OK, so I haven’t officially tasted it yet…I did do some picking here and there.  I am quite happy with the results so far.  I am taking this puppy to work to share with everyone, mainly so I don’t eat an entire pie by myself.  The pie recipe is a compilation of several different pie recipes I found.  The pie shell recipe came from the foodnetwork, I think.  I was having fun in the kitchen when I realized there were no pie shells.  Google answered the question of how to make my own, and avoid a shopping trip, but I forgot to record where it came from.

Ingredients:

  • 5 green apples, peeled, sliced, and diced.  Toss the cores.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Pie Shell:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 sticks butter (half cup) cold
  • 1/3 cup cold water

Directions:

  1. In a mixer combine flour, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  2. Cut butter into small chunks and add to mixer.
  3. Slowly add cold water.  You want the dough to look mealy.
  4. Roll out on floured surface and place in pie crust.
  1. Squeeze lemon juice into bottom of bowl.  Mix it onto all the apple pieces.
  2. In a smaller bowl mix 3/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, and flour.  Mix well and coat each piece of apple with it.
  3. Mix remaining sugar, cinnamon, and flour in small bowl.
  4. Layer the apples in the pie shell, sprinkle sugar, cinnamon and flour mixture over each layer.
  5. With left over pie crust create a lattice shape over top of pie.
  6. Cut butter into little chunks and place ontop of pie.
  7. Bake at 450F for 10 minutes.
  8. Reduce heat to 350F for 30 minutes.
  9. Serve with vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
